New born KDCA to host State u-9 chess meet

New born Khordha District Chess Association (KDCA) today announced to host the State under-9 chess championship for boys and girls at College of Engineering Bhubaneswar campus, Chandrasekharpur from April 19 to 21. Top two finishers of the three-day meet will be eligible to represent the state in the National under-9 championship to be held at Chennai from June 15 to 23. The state championship, featuring six rounds, will be conducted under the aegis of the ad hoc committee, which has been appointed by the All India Chess Federation in place of the expelled Orissa State Chess Association. ‘‘This is the first time that a State age-group championship will take place in an air-conditioned hall. Cash prizes will also be introduced for the first time,’’ claimed KDCA secretary Subhasis Patnaik. ‘‘Free accommodation will be provided to all outstation player,’’ he added.
